About this site
wwii.online is a volunteer community project by history enthusiasts, dedicated to the Second World War (1939–1945) and developed voluntarily from Brussels, Belgium. Its vocation is leisure, reflection, and the transmission of memory — it is a doorway to curiosity, never a substitute for authentic primary sources or academic scholarship. It is not affiliated with any official institution, university, or government body. It has no primary profit motive; any revenue it may generate is reinvested to sustain and develop the project (see “Recommendations & sponsored content” below).
AI-assisted content
Historical content on this site — scenario descriptions, contexts, presentation of historical decisions — has been written with the assistance of artificial intelligence tools that helped with research, synthesis, and writing.
We try to present an objective view of documented and accepted historical facts, but some claims remain debated among historians. Content may contain errors, approximations, or biases, despite our efforts to cross-check against recognized sources (Wikipedia, national archives, IPN, IWM, USHMM, NARA, etc., cited at the bottom of each scenario). We encourage readers to consult the cited sources, verify claims independently, and form their own opinion.
Sources & image rights
Archive images used come primarily from Wikimedia Commons, the US National Archives (NARA), the German Bundesarchiv, and other institutions under Creative Commons licenses or public domain. Credit is indicated below each image.
Polls and votes
The "What Would You Do?" poll system collects anonymous votes, aggregated globally and stored on Cloudflare infrastructure. No personal information is attached to votes. See our Cookies page for details.
Content sensitivity
Some scenarios address difficult subjects: executions, suicides, persecutions, deportations, the Shoah. A warning is displayed at the start of such scenarios, with an option to skip to the next. Our intent is documentary, never sensationalist.
Usage
You may freely browse, vote on polls, and share links to our pages. You may not reproduce the entirety of the content without attribution, nor use it commercially without prior authorization.
Recommendations & sponsored content
From time to time we may recommend or promote certain paid products or services — books, games, tools, or experiences. This may happen in exchange for compensation (affiliate links, partnerships, sponsorship) or simply because we are genuinely convinced they fit the mission of the project. Such recommendations never alter our historical content, and the choice to purchase anything remains entirely yours.
Limitation of liability
Content is provided "as is" for educational and reflective purposes. We do not guarantee its absolute accuracy. Any personal, academic, or professional decision based on this content is solely the user's responsibility.
