Anne Frank House VR (mobile)
Anecdote
Produced by the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam in partnership with the studio Force Field VR and supported by Meta, Anne Frank House VR is one of the most acclaimed memorial productions in the mobile VR ecosystem. The application reconstructs with absolute documentary fidelity the Secret Annex where Anne Frank and her family hid from July 1942 to August 1944, as well as the rooms of the family home at Prinsengracht 263. The visitor can move through the rooms as they were furnished at the time — a reconstruction made possible by the painstaking documentation preserved by the Anne Frank Stichting. The approach embraces strict historical rigour: every detail, from the posters on the walls to the objects on the shelves, is based on photographs, testimonies, and authentic archives. The experience lasts approximately twenty-five minutes, a format designed for sustained concentration without fatigue. A narrator guides the visitor through the rooms while reading excerpts from the Diary of Anne Frank, adding a profound emotional dimension. The application is available in seven languages — Dutch, English, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, and Hebrew — in a commitment to worldwide dissemination. Available free of charge on Meta Quest headsets, Steam VR, and previously Oculus mobile, the application was conceived as a gift to humanity by the Anne Frank House. The partnership with Force Field VR, a recognised Dutch studio, guarantees a high technical standard. The project ideally complements a physical visit to the Amsterdam museum, reaching audiences who are unable to travel there. For teachers, pupils, museums, and memorial institutions, the application is a valuable educational tool. Anne Frank House VR demonstrates the power of VR in the service of memorial transmission. An essential work of Holocaust pedagogy, produced with the scientific rigour characteristic of the Anne Frank Stichting.
