World War Armies: WW2 PvP RTS
Anecdote
Developed by Croatian studio Tilting Point in partnership with an independent studio, World War Armies offers a short, competitive RTS take on the Second World War designed natively for smartphones. Players face a human opponent in real time on a compact map, deploying units throughout the match via a card-based system. The approach commits to fast real-time strategy, somewhere between Clash Royale and a mobile Company of Heroes. Each session lasts between five and eight minutes, an ideal format for touchscreen play. The title offers around fifty historical units — from the basic infantryman to the Tiger tank — split between Allies and Axis. Progression is built on collecting and upgrading cards, with a readable meta economy. The visual presentation adopts a stylised approach close to a diorama, readable and warm, well suited to the compact format. Available free on iOS and Android, the title adopts a monetisation model inspired by competitive RTS games, with a battle pass and cosmetic crates. The real-time PvP dimension is the heart of the proposition, making it an excellent candidate for mobile esports enthusiasts. Modes include seasonal rankings, community challenges, and occasional co-operative play. The developers maintain regular dialogue with their community via Discord and social media. Monthly updates introduce new units and themed maps. The learning curve is gradual thanks to a well-designed tutorial. World War Armies illustrates a new generation of RTS games built for smartphones — fast and tactical. A refreshing proposition for fans of competitive historical strategy.
